Improve the usage of the car
The car is one of our main means of transport. Nevertheless, within the lifecycle of a car, it is standing around most of its time. The students had to come up with a solution that would improve the usage time of the car. A solution that might even change the meaning or status of the car within our future society.
They had to think far beyond the car itself, think of systems, sharing organizations, or about expanding the functionality of the car, work out scenarios how your solution would work.
The first solution got the name ‘Hop In’ and it presents an easy way to organize carpooling. It uses 2 existing products en their technologies: Iphone and GPS. With your Iphone you can see what direction people that are in the neighborhood are driving, and you can ‘hop in’.
The second project, called ‘Oxalis’, focuses on students that live in a student’s room. The car will be used to work individually, but also to us as a module to work together with other students in a clover-leaf structure.
Delta presents a system where people don’t need their own car anymore. The can use a taxi system where the most important principal ‘sharing a car’ is.
The last project ‘CARmeleon’ presents a car that adapts itself to the environment when it stands still. The car will get other functions such as city information point, digital billboard, charging point for gsm on solar energy …

Elke groep heeft zijn concept verder uitgewerkt als ook de bladschikking voor de presentatiefoto’s. Er zijn ook al beslissingen gevallen in verband met de naamgeving; zo hebben we: Oxalis, Hop In, Delta en CARmeleon.

De eerste resultaten van de workshop van Jo Stenuit zijn gearriveerd!
Het project ‘Hop In’, wil mensen aanzetten tot samen rijden met andere mensen. Door middel van de gps zal je op zoek kunnen gaan naar voertuigen in de buurt die in dezelfde richting rijden.
De ontwikkelde gebruiksinterface van ‘Hop in’ is alvast hier te bewonderen.

Het concept CARmeleon
Ons concept bestaat eruit om de auto te laten “mergen” met zijn omgeving omdat deze het merendeel van de tijd stilstaat. We gaan er dan ook voor zorgen dat de auto zich kan aanpassen aan zijn omgeving en ook een functie vervult als hij niet gebruikt wordt.
